Inside the Lines
Colouring that stays inside the lines.
What it is
Colouring pages and a box of crayons. Tap a shape and the colour pours in; drag a finger and it draws like a crayon. By default, nothing can go over the lines.
The pictures include a fish, a rocket and an owl.
The picture comes alive
When every part of a picture has a colour, it comes alive: the fish swims off, the rocket lifts off, the owl blinks and hoots. There is no score and no timer, and every control is a picture rather than a word.
How to play
- Pick a colourTap a crayon
- Fill a shapeTap it
- DrawDrag a finger
- UndoThe arrow at the top
- Another pictureThe grid button
Two people can colour at the same time, and a resting palm fills nothing. A separate row of settings holds the inside-the-lines switch, sound, clear and save. Clear takes two taps, and undo brings the picture back.
On a desktop, click a shape to fill it, or drag to draw. The number keys pick crayons. The arrow keys move between shapes and Enter fills one. Z undoes, and P or Escape opens the pictures.
It keeps the picture
A picture in progress is kept on this device, so it is still there after leaving and coming back. Save hands over the picture as a PNG image, named after it. Nothing is ever sent anywhere.
What isn't settled yet
Whether drawing should stay inside the lines by default. That gets decided once it has been properly play-tested.

Build 7
Inside the Lines went up on the site. A tap pours colour that cannot cross a shape's outline, and drawing starts held inside the lines too, so a page comes out clean with nobody steering. Colour every part of a picture and it comes alive: the fish swims off, the rocket lifts off, the owl blinks.

No third-party engine and no embedded typefaces — it uses whichever fonts your device already has. Cover art was rendered from the game’s own drawing code.
